Tempted to swim?

Swimming allows dogs to exercise with reduced pressure on their joints. Many owners only start looking at hydrotherapy once a vet has recommended it for their dog, however a dog does not need an ailment to benefit from swimming!

Whether your dog is full of energy, overweight, struggling on walks but needs the exercise, needs more confidence in water or just loves to swim, Phin and Paddle is a YEAR ROUND, heated, safe, calm environment for you and your dog to enjoy themselves (with the added bonus of our shop selling natural treats to tempt your dog on their way out!).

With all our sessions being private, there is no sharing the pool with strangers and our long sessions slots allow plenty of time for getting you dog in and out the pool, as well as a good amount of swimming in-between.

Fancy a dip? You can join your dog(s) in the pool if you wish to! This is often a preferred option for owners when it is their dogs first time. Children are welcome to join you and the dog too!

Please be mindful, Jodie is only in the pool for swim lessons. No one is in the pool with your dog during any other sessions or packages. Owners are not required to join during lessons, but do need to stay poolside. Take a look at our lesson information page for more details.

Remember before you book to take a look at our terms and conditons page!

P.S. we have plenty of toys to help make the session fun and buoyancy aids for you to use on our dog (inc. In all bookings!)

This session is great for dogs who you're not sure if they need a full swim lesson course, those who haven't swam in a while or have recently had a health issue and you're not sure where to start with supporting them in the water. We tend to not recommend the one of trail session for nervous or anxious dogs, as they usually need multiple sessions to gain enough confidence for us to get them swimming comfortably, however we do leave this to owners discretion.

SEASONAL SESSIONS

From Pool Agility, Hot Weather Morning Swims and Christmas Specials. Find information on special sessions currently running in the space!

How your session will work

At Phin and Paddle we want to ensure every dog that comes to our pool has a fun and safe time. This why we do not allow a session to have more than one booking, so that if you choose to have other dogs in the pool with your own, it is ones your dog is happy to play with.

For swim lessons and trails, Jodie will be in the water with your dog to support them.  In other sessions, Jodie is still in the facility area to offer advice and support as needed.

Arrival

We recommend arriving 5 minutes early if it is your first appointment.

When you enter Phin and Paddle, you will first come to the shop. Please head over to the desk and share your booking name/ details. If you haven't already, you will given our terms and conditions to read and sign.

Please ensure your dog is walked in on a lead!

Entering the pool area

The pool is not a bath for your dog to be cleaned, we would really appreciate you using our wash facilities to rinse your dog off if they are dirty.

Please ensure you close the gate behind you once you are in the pool area and take all towels and bags in with you. You will be shown all the facilities and there is a curtain if you wish to change and join your dog in the pool!

Getting in the pool

Remember: the steps are for dogs and ladder for humans!

We recommend walking your dog on their lead up the steps (you can follow on the wooden steps) for safety and to help them enter the water. There are buoyancy jackets which you may choose to put on your dog if they are not confident in water. It is sometimes helpful to join your dog in the pool for their first visit, or alternatively book them in to our private 1:1 swim lessons! We are not in the pool with your dog during standard sessions.

Getting out the pool

A towel or drying coat are always worth bringing with you (or you can purchase these in our store!)

When it's time to get out the pool, we recommend placing your dog on their lead to walk while helping them up and down the steps. You can then rinse them off with the pump shower (if desired) before drying off and heading home. Please keep your dog on the drying platform until they are toweled dry. Ensure you bring a towel or drying coat for them (we sell Ruff and Tumble coats in store!). Don't forget to get a post swim snack to take home from the shop if your dogs feeling peckish!
