Tempted to swim?

Swimming allows dogs to exercise with reduced pressure on their joints. Many owners only start looking at hydrotherapy once a vet has recommended it for their dog, however a dog does not need an ailment to benefit from swimming! Whether your dog is full of energy, overweight, struggling on walks but needs the exercise, needs more confidence in water or just loves to swim, Phin and Paddle is a YEAR ROUND, safe, calm environment for you and your dog to enjoy themselves (with the added bonus of our shop selling natural treats to tempt your dog on their way out!).
With our private sessions, there is no sharing the pool with strangers and our long sessions slots allow plenty of time for getting you dog in and out the pool, as well as a good amount of swimming in-between.

Fancy a dip? You can join your dog(s) in the pool if you wish to! This is often a preferred option for owners when it is their dogs first time.

P.S. we have plenty of toys to help make the session fun and buoyancy aids for you to use on our dog.

45 minute session

This is our standard session, perfect for if you want to join your dog for a swim, or want to stand on the side and watch them have a splashing time!

You have full use of the pool facilities, including the toys and buoyancy aids if required. On arrival Jodie will ask about your dogs swimming history to be able to help advice whether a buoyancy aid may be needed. For certain breeds, we may recommend using one whether they are confident swimming or not!

Book this session on your own, or invite friends to join you! Use of the pool is private, so only the dogs you book for will be in the water with you.

This allocated time includes time entering and exiting the pool area. Jodie will let you know when it is time to get out the pool, to ensure you have plenty of time to dry your dog, and get changed if you joined them.

SWIM LESSONS

We are so excited to now be qualified to provide swim lessons!

Our puppy and 6 months + swim lesson packages offer 5 sessions and at the end of the course, your dog receives a certificate, rosette, treat box and discount on their next swim! (note: you can opt for a 6th session instead of the treat box and rosette or 7 for no last session awards)

PUPPY COURSE  £85.00

6MONTHS + COURSE £100.00

Swim lessons are on a 1:1 basis where your dog/puppy is supported in the pool by Jodie. Each session runs at your dogs pace and supports them to gain confidence and swimming skills. Time in the pool may vary depending on the dogs age, fitness level and confidence.
The perfect option for pups from 14 weeks of age and up, giving them the best start to enjoying and being safe in water. Our buoyancy jackets are used in all our lesson sessions to offer additional support and safety for your dog. Take a look at our socials for more information.

NEW

Single Swim lesson trail/taster session
Session lasting 10 minutes with Jodie in the pool on a 1:1 basis with your dog.
This session is perfect for if you are unsure whether to book your puppy or dog in for swim lessons, or you do not wish to join them in the water for a standard session, but know they will require additional help!
We recommend going straight to booking a swim lesson package if your dog has a fear of water, is reactive, anxious or nervous, so that we can work at a slower, more personalised pace.

NOTE: Please book our block lesson sessions for the swim lesson package. This trail is great for letting your dog 'have a go'. If you would prefer a more personalised session that happens at your dogs pace, please book our swim lesson package.

How your session will work

At Phin and Paddle we want to ensure every dog that comes to our pool has a fun and safe time. This why we do not allow a session to have more than one booking, so that if you choose to have other dogs in the pool with your own, it is ones your dog is happy to play with.

For swim lessons and trails, Jodie will be in the water with your dog to support them.  In other sessions, Jodie is still in the facility area to offer advice and support as needed.

Arrival

We recommend arriving 5 minutes early if it is your first appointment.

When you enter Phin and Paddle, you will first come to the shop. Please head over to the desk and share your booking name/ details. If you haven't already, you will given our terms and conditions to read and sign.

Please ensure your dog is walked in on a lead!

Entering the pool area

The pool is not a bath for your dog to be cleaned, we would really appreciate you using our wash facilities to rinse your dog off if they are dirty.

Please ensure you close the gate behind you once you are in the pool area and take all towels and bags in with you. You will be shown all the facilities and there is a curtain if you wish to change and join your dog in the pool!

Getting in the pool

Remember: the steps are for dogs and ladder for humans!

We recommend walking your dog on their lead up the steps (you can follow on the wooden steps) for safety and to help them enter the water. There are buoyancy jackets which you may choose to put on your dog if they are not confident in water. It is sometimes helpful to join your dog in the pool for their first visit, or alternatively book them in to our private 1:1 swim lessons! We are not in the pool with your dog during standard sessions.

Getting out the pool

A towel or drying coat are always worth bringing with you (or you can purchase these in our store!)

When it's time to get out the pool, we recommend placing your dog on their lead to walk while helping them up and down the steps. You can then rinse them off with the pump shower (if desired) before drying off and heading home. Please keep your dog on the drying platform until they are toweled dry. Ensure you bring a towel or drying coat for them (we sell Ruff and Tumble coats in store!). Don't forget to get a post swim snack to take home from the shop if your dogs feeling peckish!
